This presentation will attempt to bring together the basic concepts of non-equilibrium thermodynamics and biochemical energetics, in order to sharply define the problem of the origin of life. Having defined the problem, an assessment of its current state of solution will be presented. In addition, a number of new experiments will be suggested.
